About Denise Reinicke Scatena

Denise Reinicke Scatena is the principal of Lemonade Public Relations. She has extensive experience creating successful public relations strategies for a variety of industries, including city government, recreation and tourism, performing arts, technology, non-profit and media. Tactics include media relations, community relations, corporate giving and special events. Many of the creative ideas implemented for her previous employers are still in use today.

Before opening her own business in 2006, Denise worked in the local media industry. At Time Warner Cable, she managed the company’s signature community outreach initiatives to “make people feel good about paying their cable bill.” She worked with national cable networks such as VH1, Lifetime, National Geographic, Cartoon Network and the Discovery Channel to bring high-visibility programs to local schools and communities. Denise was also integral in the launch of “San Diego On-Demand,” digital cable channel 144, that enabled local video producers and non-profit organizations to share their video programs with a broader audience. After Time Warner Cable, Denise became the marketing and community development manager for voiceofsandiego.org, the region’s online news Web site. While at voiceofsandiego.org, she was responsible for creating the marketing and fundraising strategy for the non-profit news organization. Under her leadership, a significant awareness for the online publication was generated among the mainstream audience and an individual membership program was established.

Currently, Denise is also the Director of Client Services for a national award winning agency in San Diego, where as a member of a close-knit group of professionals, creates and implements public and media relations strategies for very well-known national brands, popular restaurants, and local non-profit organizations.
She also owns and manages Blue Ribbon Invitations, an invitations and announcements business for life's special celebrations.

Denise’s work has been recognized nationally by the Cable Television Public Affairs Association, where she earned a national Beacon Award in the Community-Full Campaign/Single Activity category for “Clothes 4 A Cause,” San Diego’s only business suit clothing drive for men and women in transition. Denise has also earned Silver and Bronze Bernays Awards from the PRSA San Diego chapter in the Special Events and Public Service categories for the “San Diego’s 50 Best Moms Essay Contest and Luncheon” and “Clothes 4 A Cause,” respectively.

She earned a master of arts degree in Communication from San Diego State University in 2005. Active in the community, Denise is a board member with PRSA of San Diego and a member of the San Diego Press Club. Denise is also an instructor with Non-Profit Management Solutions. She lives in the San Diego community of Clairemont with her husband Joe, and their two pugs, Zeus and Maxine.
